An eternal spring unfolded between them, a new beginning, and Citra could not be more pleased with what was once a bad habit (her mother saying she could get anyone to agree to anything, as long as it would get her to be silent), into getting Edie to spend some time with her. By nature, the tile setter was affable, enclosing herself with a sea of people to distract from the silence in her head, but Edie was one that she felt drawn to and so very curious about. No longer did the silence bother her in Edie's presence, a venture she was learning to appreciate. "Yes, just this once." Citra repeated. "And then I will have to think of ways for next year."

Her nose wrinkled as an adoring chuckle escaped her lips at the other woman's joke, an unsuspected quip but enjoyed nonetheless. "Then ten it is. Oh yeah, I'll try to stay clear from the ones that all the teens loiter in, but hey, that might actually be good practise, dodging them with their skateboards."
It would only be nice because she'd have Citra as company, but she didn't voice that specific opinion. Despite her less than sunny disposition, the other woman did happen to soften Edie around the edges when they were around. Others around town were bound to notice, but none of them dare say anything to the P.I.'s face, not unless they wanted a biting remark in return. Her hands go up in surrender motion. "Okay, okay. You have me convinced to go. At least this once."
Edie nodded. "Ten sounds good to me." Getting there at the start of the day's festivities at least sounded better than being around when it was packed of both townspeople and tourists. Her eyes grew slightly concerned at the joke of her driving, but she managed a laugh after the fact. "Well if you ever do need more driving practice," she teased, "I'm sure there's plenty of suitable parking lots to do so in."

Citra nodded in accord, but some things when occurring at regular intervals seem to be taken for granted, "I get what you mean, but people still like to feel special on their birthdays, or the year they got their dream job, or their baby's first winter, even their parent's passing, and all those are annual things. Ain't that just the way? You don't have to go every year, but it might be nice this one."

A 1999 Honda ACTY utility van was the only car in her effects as she used it for her work, and it would have to do; luckily Edie didn't seem like the type to be picky about that sort of thing. "Perfect, then it's settled, I'll pick you up around ten am? We can get there at the start of the day when everything will be fresh. And I don't mind the drive, I need more practice anyway, I'm kidding."

She gave the woman a dry laugh, although there was some truth to it. "Maybe it is," she remarks jokingly, rolling her eyes. "I just find it difficult to get excited about these kind of things when they're an annual thing."

A part of her was waiting for a punchline. She knew Citra was new to town, so in a way she did feel a little bad about being so down about the whole festival going on at the moment - Edie probably would've enjoyed it more if she wasn't always such a cup of misery with a pessimistic outlook. Still, she softened a tad at hearing the way the other woman describe it. At the invitation to join her, she paused. "Oh." Was that why Citra was talking her ear off about it? "I mean, I guess if you want the company, I'd be okay with going... With you." The idea made her more nervous than she'd been expecting, especially when not much could spook her with her line of work. "I don't mind meeting you elsewhere if the drive's too much of a hassle."

"Oh yeah, and what is your thing? Pouring over old case files in a dimly-lit room and, smoking a cigar," Citra could not help but tease the older woman, trying to coax any sort of retort out of her.
Tumblr media
Fully aware Edie isn't exactly the social partier type, she still held onto the notion that it would be nice too have the other's company. "Don't you long to see the florals in blossom, and after such a tiring winter, and the greenery, oh the greenery, so luscious and spirited, just like a painting. You know I might press a few florets into a tile job I'm doing." Yes, Azaleas would look lovely in the soft blue light that bathed the house during the early morning hours. "I could even pick you up, I don't mind the trek, never owned a car back in my hometown, so it was either riding my brother's old bike or walking."

Edie's head shook casually at being asked if she had plans for the afternoon - specifically if she was going to attend one of the many town affairs. All she recalled was it being related to the springtime. "Well I don't really attend those town events. They just aren't really my thing..."
